Theme and Focus
The 2008 HDP Summit is organised to bring key decision makers throughout the aid and development community, with two days focused on partnership and procurement between UN agencies, NGOs, donors and the international private sector.
This will be the central theme of the summit with special focus on how the relationship between the aid & development community and the international business community can fulfill the specific aims of:
- Procuring key goods and services to aid global initiatives
- Developing cross-sector partnerships between the private sector and UN agencies, NGOs and donors
- Increasing efficiency and effectiveness of projects and programmes
- Improving accountability and transparency in the allocation of funds provided
- Providing equipment and training, improving standards and best practice
- Implementing crucial operational plans
- Integrating logistical and administrative requirements
- Strengthening community ties
